LaJune Rice

LaJune A. Rice, of Richland, Washington, passed away on May 10, 2026, at the age of 94.
June was born on December 9, 1931, in Bonner Springs, Kansas, the second of seven children born to Forrest and Marie Ouderkirk. When she was eleven years old, her family moved to Prosser, Washington, where her father worked as a carpenter helping to build the city of Richland. At the age of fourteen, following the death of her mother, June left school to care for her younger brothers—an early reflection of her deep sense of responsibility and love for family.
On July 2, 1949, June married the love of her life, Wesley A. Rice. They shared 50 years of marriage before Wes’s passing in 1999. Together they raised two daughters, CarolLynn and Georga, and were blessed with grandchildren and great‑grandchildren whom June dearly loved. She especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren when they were young.
Later in life, June found joy in gardening and needle crafts, pursuits that reflected her patience, creativity, and quiet strength.
June was preceded in death by her husband Wes, her grandson Ross, and five siblings. She is survived by her daughters, CarolLynn Winchester of Redmond, Washington, and Georga Bailey (husband John) of West Richland, Washington; her grandson, John Bailey Jr. (wife Michelle); and her great‑grandchildren, Benjamin and Riley Bailey, all of West Richland. She is also survived by her brother, Harry Ouderkirk of Arizona.
Per her wishes, no services are planned.
