Leonard “Lenny” Ross, 78, passed away on May 20, 2026, in Pasco, WA. He was born on March 17, 1948 along with his twin brother Larry in Spokane, WA, to Alden Ross and Flora Olson Ross.
Len graduated from Ferris High School in 1967 and attended Spokane Falls Community College until enlisting in the Navy in 1970. As a corpsman, his duty stations were at Naval Hospitals in Bremerton, WA and Guam.
Leonard married Carol Donahue in Richland on August 30, 1975 and were married for over 50 years. The couple had 2 children, Carrie and Megan.
He started his career as a Reactor Operator at Hanford N Reactor in 1981, remaining at the Hanford site in various positions until retirement in 2012.
Len was an avid musician and trumpet player. He was also a part of the drum and bugle corps during his Navy boot camp, and later played bugle as part of the VFW Post 7952 in Richland. He loved to travel and went on many vacations with family around the US and world. Len also spent many years leading middle school church youth group at Richland Lutheran Church with his wife.
Len was a recovering alcoholic, becoming sober on November 14th, 1989. In his sobriety, he was active in Richland AA Fellowship and found healing through singing with a sobriety singing group called the No Half Measures.
Leonard is survived by his wife Carol, brother Larry, daughters Carrie and Megan, granddaughters Emma and Hannah, niece Jennifer, nephew Nathan, and cousins Don and Kitty.
Leonard is preceded in death by parents Alden “Pete” Ross and Flora Olson Ross, and aunt Betty MacInnis.
The service for Leonard Ross will be held on June 13th, 2026 at 10am, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Kennewick.
Memorial donations can be made in Leonard’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
To Carol, her daughters and granddaughters – I celebrate with you that Len has been released from the struggles of “the long goodbye”, and is now made whole again with Jesus. I celebrate the way he touched so positively the lives of so many through his music, his loving service to others, and his sobriety testimony. I celebrate the 50+ years of marriage and love that he and Carol shared, and his love for their whole family and dear friends. I pray that all who will now miss him until they are reunited will be granted the mercy of comfort for their hearts, and peace of mind. May God be with you.
My deepest condolences to you, Carol and your family. You’re in my thoughts and prayers
Carol and family-my deepest sympathies in the loss of your beloved Lenny.
