In Loving Memory
Larry Maltos was born in Edinburg, Texas, to Marcelino Maltos and Erlinda Arevalo. He grew up in Granger, Washington, alongside his brothers and sisters, where he built the foundation of a life defined by hard work, faith, and devotion to family.
A loving and devoted father to his eight children, Larry was widely known as “Larry the Barber,” a title he carried with pride throughout a remarkable career that spanned more than 65 years. Through his work, he became a familiar and trusted presence in the community. Those who knew him through church and everyday life remember him as a noble and humble man.
Larry instilled in his family the importance of kindness, integrity, and living a good life. He was a tireless worker who gave himself endlessly, always ready to support both family and friends, especially those in need.
He is survived by his beloved partner of 22 years, Barbara Forester; his brother, Jesse Maltos; and his children and their spouses: Ayesh Shanah, Greg Maltos, Elizabeth Maltos, Bobbie & Joe Pisca, Gabriel Maltos & Mark Branalise, Rebecca & Doug Carl, Jonathan & Julie Maltos, and Nathan Maltos & Robert Pohl. He was blessed with 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosemary Shanah, and granddaughter, Zaniah Shanah.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Corporal. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He continued his dedication through eight years of honorable service in the Army Reserve as part of his commitment to universal military training.
Larry’s legacy lives on through his family, his work, and the many lives he touched.
“Everything is good.”
God bless us all.
