In Loving Memory of Ralph Roy Rider II
May 20, 1963 – May 2, 2026

Ralph Roy Rider II, lovingly known to family and friends as Roy, passed away on May 2, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on May 20, 1963, Roy lived a life defined by experience, adventure, and a genuine appreciation for the journey. A master student of life, he believed that the greatest lessons were learned through living. Whether on the road, with family, or sharing stories with friends, Roy embraced every opportunity to learn something new and create memories worth telling.

Roy was a proud Brother of Teamsters Local Union No. 690, where he found a meaningful path that combined his skills, strong work ethic, and love of the open road. His work was more than a career—it was a calling that allowed him to connect with people, places, and experiences that enriched his life.

His love for the road began early. Growing up riding dirt bikes, Roy developed a lifelong passion for motorcycles that eventually led him to become a devoted Harley-Davidson rider. Few things brought him more joy than the freedom of the open highway, the camaraderie of fellow riders, and the excitement of the journey ahead. From scenic rides to unforgettable trips to Sturgis, motorcycling was woven into the fabric of who he was.

An avid storyteller, Roy had a remarkable gift for capturing the attention of everyone around him. Whether sharing tales from his travels, lessons learned through experience, or one of his legendary stories, listeners always knew there was a little mystery mixed in. As those who knew him often joked, Roy’s stories were about 99% truth and 1% that kept you guessing. His humor, wisdom, and larger than-life personality made every gathering more memorable.

Roy is survived by his loving wife, Christina Rider; her children, Hunter and Shelby Strickland; his son, Zackary Ray Rider III and wife Lizzy; and his cherished grandsons, Ryan and Kesler, who brought immense pride and joy to his life. As well as Michelle Rider (McCollum) and stepson Matt Sanders.

He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Baugh and her husband Ken, along with their children Jennifer and Christopher; and Monica Kennard and her husband Garry, along with their son Stephen.

Roy was preceded in death by his father, Roy “Pops” Rider; and his mother, Gunda Lea Rider “Muller”.

Roy’s legacy lives on in the countless stories he shared, the roads he traveled, the friendships he built, and the family he loved deeply. He will be remembered as a man of adventure, loyalty, humor, and heart—a man who never stopped learning, never stopped exploring, and never stopped finding joy in the ride.

Though his journey on this earth has come to an end, the memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to travel on for generations to come.

“The road goes on forever through the hearts of those who remember.”

His wings were not big enough for this earth but strong enough to watch over us from above.

  • My Dear Roy,
You were one of my dearest friends, first meeting you at the age of 15. Our paths crossed so many times thru out the years and I have too many memories to share, but I will cherish all of them. You were one of a kind and your laughter will echo in my heart forever. I am so glad that you found happiness with a good woman. Don’t worry about Christina Roy, she is strong and has a huge circle of friends surrounding her. The world just lost another good man. I will see you again someday.
Say hello to my Rob for me please.

May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
