“He was my person. He was my best friend. He was the only person who never hurt me.”
These were the words I heard from broken hearts through tear stained voices on the day you died.
You were the man who gave everything, while he himself went with nothing. You fixed everything, listened to everyone, and guarded us with your life. You were a silent warrior, our warrier. You knew everyone’s secrets, faults, and fears- none of which you would ever betray. You showed up in the night, drove long hours, and did what needed to be done without offering a single complaint. You gave without expectation of anything in return. You judged no one and accepted everyone. You did what was right and honest regardless of time, circumstance, or the notice of others. You kept your kindness and good deeds for others quiet, only known by those you served. We trusted you without reservation. You held our hearts and confidence safely in your hands. You had our backs without hesitation, and we knew it. We never doubted your love, loyalty, intentions or ability.
Your precious gift of being a good man who we trusted completely will last us a lifetime. Those you helped, healed, loved, cared for, showed up for, listened to, and served as the only safe place they have ever known are truly fortunate.
See you on the other side. Go rest high and rock on, Dawg.
Matthew 20:16. Matthew 25:40.
