Rose Love Legler
Rose was born in Manila, Philippines on New Year’s Eve, 1948 to John and Cleta Love, the last of six children. In 1952 they moved to Okinawa and in 1954 moved to Pittsburg California where her father served out his final years with the U S Army. They bought a house and lived there until 1966 when they moved to a new house in Concord. Rose attended Concord high school and graduated in 1967. She attended Diablo Valley College for several years until she started working. Rose met her husband while working in San Francisco. They started dating in February 1973 and married in October. They started their married life together in a tiny studio apartment in San Francisco. Their first son was born in 1974 and their second son followed in 1975. After living in California until 1977 they moved to Houston, where they stayed until 1982 when they moved to New Mexico. In 1987, they moved to Virginia to a suburb of Washington D.C., where they lived until 1989, moving to San Diego California. In 1990 they moved to Idaho, staying until 1995 when they moved back to New Mexico for six months and then on to California. In 1998 they moved to Alaska and during 2001 moved to Colorado until 2009 when they made their final move to Richland, Washington.
Rose really loved being a mother and grandmother. While she worked occasionally if needed, she preferred to spend her time homemaking, spending time with her family and making new friends. Shopping was one of her favorite activities, usually for gifts but especially if it was for Christmas presents. She also loved gift giving, usually by crafting useful things like aprons and household items, cooking for guests, baking all sorts of cookies and cakes but was known for her cheesecake recipe. Everybody who have met her more than once would have received gifts of something she made. She ensured those around her were made to feel like family, sharing a meal, sharing when she had plenty, offering an ear to listen or volunteering a helping hand.
Rose was a Christian, having put her faith in Jesus Christ while in Idaho. She is survived by her husband Morris, sons Mike and Tony, sisters Eva and Ruby. She will be sorely missed by her husband and family. Remember her by giving the gift of friendship and love to those around you and sharing a favorite memory of her.
I didnt know her to well, but she always greeted me when I entered her home and she was always so nice to me.
Im her only granddaughter.
