Steven Victor Palmrose, 77, passed away on May 8, 2026, in Richland, WA. He was born on February 5, 1949, in Portland County, OR, to Dr. Edwin Palmrose and Zoe Vonna Christ. He graduated from Astoria Oregon High School. He then went on to attend the University of Oregon at Eugene, OR, where he met his wife, Rita Klaumann.
They married on September 27, 1970, in North Hollywood, CA, honeymooned in Arizona near the Grand Canyon, and then spent two years in Germany together during Steven’s Army service. After he was discharged from the Army, he pursued his BS degree at Oregon State University, and after his graduation, they moved to Los Angeles together. While in Los Angeles, they spent a great deal of time with Rita’s parents and her sister’s family and had their first son Michael.
The family then moved to the Phoenix area of Arizona where they had their second son Gregory. The family moved to Kennewick, WA, where Steven began working at Hanford. In the 1980’s, the family moved to Denver, CO, where Steven began working at Rocky Flats. In the 1990’s, Steven and Rita moved again, this time to Oak Ridge TN. Eventually they moved back to Richland WA in 2004.

Steven pursued Civil Engineering at Oregon State University as well as Civil/Structural Engineering at the University of Washington.

In his spare time Steven loved playing and listening to classical guitar performances often practicing pieces at home with his custom-made Spanish style guitar. He was also involved in the Classical Guitar Society of the Tri-Cities. Steven was an avid cyclist frequently traveling 10s of miles on his rides including every morning on a recent two week visit to see his son in Northern Italy.

Steven is survived by Michael Palmrose – son, Gregory Palmrose – son, Diantha – sister, Zoe-Vonna – sister, Thomas – brother, Janice – sister, Marjorie – sister, and Donald – brother. He is preceded in death by Rita Klaumann – wife, Edwin Palmrose – father and Zoe Vonna Christ – mother, Hazel Cole – mother, Frank Palmrose – brother.

The Celebration of Life service for Steven Palmrose will be held on Saturday, June 27th at 10:00 AM at Einan’s at Sunset Funeral Home.
