Jose Enriquez Castillo, beloved father, brother, and veteran, passed away peacefully on 20 June 2026 in Kennewick, WA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Rose Inez (Masters) Castillo.

Born in San Benito, TX, he spent much of his early life in eastern Idaho and always considered it his home.

He proudly served with C Company, 116th Engineer Battalion (Idaho Army National Guard) in St. Anthony. His years as a Combat Engineer were among the proudest of his life, and the friendships he formed there lasted a lifetime.

He went on to continue his military service on active duty, completing a distinguished career in the United States Army.

Jose was a quiet and reserved man, but those who knew him well were treated to a gentle sense of humor that revealed his warmth. He had a special love for babies and could spend hours talking to them, smiling in a way he rarely showed elsewhere. Though soft-spoken, he was known for striking up conversations with everyone he met and was always willing to lend a hand. His kindness, steady presence, and quiet generosity will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Tina (Castillo) Anderson and her husband, William, of Kennewick, Washington, and Jose Castillo and his wife, Robin, of Parkville, Missouri; his siblings, Candida and Manuel; five grandchildren — Victoria, Brendan, Jayven, Anthony, and Rebecca — and two great-grandchildren, Blair and Harper, who brought him great joy.

A memorial service will be held at Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot, Idaho, July 10, 2026, at 11:30am.

A graveside service with military honors will follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Blackfoot July 10, 2026, at 1pm.

Friends, family, and former members of the 116th Engineer Battalion are warmly invited to join in celebrating his life.
