Nora LeVon Silver

Nora LeVon Silver, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of her family.

Levon was born on July 17, 1938, in Clebit, Oklahoma, to Jim T. and Lucille McCollum. At the age of 10, she moved with her family to Benton City, Washington, where she would build lifelong friendships and deep roots in the community. She graduated from Kiona-Benton High School in 1956. In August 1959, married Richard Jon Silver. Together they shared 25 years of marriage and raised four children.

A strong and determined woman, LeVon devoted herself to providing for her family and built a successful career that included positions with multiple employers to include Areva/Framatome/Exxon Nuclear and Washington State Child Protective Services. She approached every challenge with resilience, independence, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.

Family was at the center of LeVon’s life. She had a gift for bringing people together, whether around her dinner table, during holidays, or at family gatherings filled with laughter and conversation. She was known for her generous heart, her willingness to help anyone in need, and her remarkable cooking. Her compassion was legendary and rivaled only by her famous banana pudding and lasagna.

LeVon embraced life with enthusiasm, adventure and love of the rain. Her social calendar was rarely empty, she treasured her close friends and neighbors, church friends, weekly Saturday card games and dinners with the Benton City Bunch. She was always up for a competitive game of Skip-Bo, loved her books from mystery to romance, enjoyed gardening, travel, long walks along the Oregon coast and staying active through CrossFit workouts. Never one to shy away from a new experience, she even enjoyed adventures such as sledding, ziplining, and skydiving. Her energy, curiosity, and zest for life inspired everyone around her. If you were lucky, she would spend the time to write a special note when you least expected, often with food and flowers attached to leave on porch. She always made a point to brighten others day.

Nothing brought LeVon greater joy than her family. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved capturing special moments through photographs and took great pride in being an active and supportive presence in the lives of those she loved.

Levon’s strong Christian faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was a devoted and active member of C3 Tri-Cities Church, where she participated in Bible studies, served on committees, volunteered regularly, and warmly greeted fellow worshippers. Her faith was evident in the kindness, generosity, and grace she extended to others every day.

LeVon is survived by her children: Ina Jean Silver; Susan Kay (Thom) Shirley; Richard Jon Silver Jr.; and Ronal David Silver (Karen Deichman). She is also survived by her brothers, Jimmy (Delores) McCollum, Garry (Diana) McCollum, and Don Wicks.

She leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Richard Jon Silver III; Whitney (Thomas) Hale; Shelby (Drew) Perry; Lauren Silver (Armando Morfin); Bailey (Gabriel) Prout; and Enrique Iniga. She was also blessed with nine cherished great-grandchildren: Harrison, Isla, Emerald, Mya, Miles, Isabella, Layton, Adalyn, Taya.

LeVon’s legacy is one of faith, strength, generosity, adventure, and unconditional love. She touched countless lives through her kindness, friendship, and unwavering devotion to family. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens Event Center in Richland.
