Alvera Marie Larson, 93, of Prosser, Washington, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Prosser Memorial Hospital.

Alvera Marie Schweitzer was born on September 17, 1932, in Tolley, North Dakota, to Wilbert and Maffie (Nelson) Schweitzer. She was raised and educated in Tolley before beginning the next chapter of her life.

On April 22, 1953, she married John Larson. Together they made their home in Prosser, Washington, where they raised their five children: Terri, Kathy, Joni, Lori, and Rodney. Alvera devoted many years to being a dedicated homemaker before later working as a bookkeeper.

A faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Alvera enjoyed sewing, painting, and working in her yard. She especially loved flowers, with roses being her favorite. She found great joy in decorating her home for every season, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart. She was also known by her family as a wonderful cook, a gift she shared with those she loved.

Family was at the center of Alvera’s life. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with those she loved and made many trips back to North Dakota over the years to visit family and maintain those treasured connections. She was blessed to see her family grow to include grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Those who knew Alvera will remember her as a strong, independent woman whose quiet strength was evident throughout her life. Her love for family, the warmth of her home, and the memories she created will be treasured by all who knew her.

Alvera is lovingly remembered by her children, Terri (Jim) Perkins, Kathy (Jeff) Aalund, Joni (Ronald) Heller, Lori (Jamie) Williams, and Rodney (JoAnn) Larson; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Larson, and her parents, Wilbert and Maffie Schweitzer.

Alvera will be so greatly missed.
