David Jones passed away July 22, 2026.

He was born in March 1941, in Alturas, CA, to Charles and Mary Jones. Dave lived in Willow Ranch, CA, as a baby. The family moved to Bishop, CA, and eventually settled in Medford, OR, where Dave graduated from Medford High School in 1959. He then went to college at University of Denver until breaking his leg while skiing. This forced him to move home and he attended Oregon State and Southern Oregon College until joining the U.S. Army in 1963. He left the Army in 1966 and attended Southern Oregon State and received his BS and MS degrees.

He went to work for the Atomic Energy Commission (now known as the Department of Energy), which brought him to Richland, WA. He married Linda in December 1968. They had two children: Brad and Kris. Dave married Mindy in 1991. He retired in 1994 from DOE with 25+ years. He worked with the Richland Housing Authority for 7 years before retiring.

He enjoyed skiing (40 years), boating, camping and hockey. He was an avid reader. He is survived by his wife, Mindy; sons: Brad (Gina) and Kris (Wendy); grandchildren: Kinsey, Sam, Hunter and Heidi; step grandchildren: Chris and Andrew; sister, Ruth; niece Barbara and her family; nephew Mark’s family and MIL, Sharon. He was preceded in death by his parents and Mark.
