Linda Darlene Vargo, 79, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and held in the everlasting arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on August 1, 1946, in Charleston, South Carolina, Linda lived a life completely surrendered to Christ. Her unwavering faith in Jesus was not simply something she believed—it was the foundation of who she was. Every decision she made, every act of kindness she showed, every meal she prepared, every prayer she prayed, and every person she loved reflected her deep desire to honor the Lord. She lived each day with quiet humility, steadfast faith, and a servant’s heart, striving to glorify God in all that she did.

To know Linda was to experience Christ’s love through her. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, treasured great-grandmother, faithful friend, and above all, a faithful woman of God.

Raised in a family of five, Linda deeply loved her parents, whom she affectionately called her ‘Mama and Daddy.’ The values they instilled—faith, wisdom, kindness, loyalty, humility, and unconditional love—became the foundation of her own family.

Though life led her across the country, Linda never lost the warmth of her Southern roots. She was known for her dresses, wide-brimmed hats, and the kindness that made everyone feel welcomed.

At 19, while working at a Howard Johnson restaurant in Charleston, SC, Linda met George F. Vargo Jr. Together they built a Christ-centered marriage that lasted 60 years.

Linda believed God had called her to be a wife and mother. She devoted herself to creating a home filled with love, prayer, and faith.

Richland, Washington became home for more than 40 years, where she welcomed family around her table and loved each generation deeply.

Throughout her life, Linda worked in several roles, including at a daycare, the Knights of Columbus, Gaslight alongside her daughter, and cleaning hotel rooms. She approached every task as an opportunity to serve the Lord.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved daughters, Marjorie Ann Harris and Mary Kathleen Davis.

She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 60 years, George F. Vargo Jr.; her daughter, Dawn Michele Vargo; her son, Daniel Michael Vargo and his wife, Sarah Hall, and their children, Vivian and Blaize Vargo; her son, David Andrew Vargo and his wife, Heather Vargo, and their children, Chloe, Reese, and Beau Vargo; her grandson, Storm M. Harris; her granddaughter, Georgia Bonin, her husband, Blaise Bonin, and their daughters, Kaci, Miley, and Zoe; her grandson, Jake Girard; her beloved younger sister, Ruby, who was 13 years her junior; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Linda’s greatest legacy is the life she lived for Jesus Christ. She now rejoices in the presence of the Savior she loved so deeply.

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die.’” — John 11:25–26

And she answered, “I believe.”
