Gary Mathew Smith, 53, passed away on August 2, 2026. He was born August 19, 1972, in
Visalia, California, and lived most of his life in Seattle, WA, where he attended Ballard High
School.
Gary worked as a plumber by trade, and was known for his hard work and his sense of humor —
he had a dry wit and made people laugh. A devoted Raiders fan, he was a proud member of the
Raider Nation Booster Club in Seattle, where he could share his passion for the team with fellow
fans.
Gary had significant health struggles during much of his adult life and lived with chronic pain
every day. Despite this, he worked hard, never complained, and never gave up. He would not
allow himself to be a victim.
Gary is survived by his wife, Rebecca Thesman Smith; his son, Nathan Smith; his grandson,
Damon James Smith; his parents, Richard F. Smith and Kathleen M. Smith; and his sister, Diane
Goodnight.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 14th at Einan’s Sunset Memorial
Gardens in Richland, WA.
