Karen Ann Whitney Davis

Karen Davis (Whitney),age 68 past away at her home in Kennewick, Washington with loved ones by her side. She fought a tough battle with cancer until God called her to be with her other loved ones in heaven.
Karen was born November10,1957 and was the fifth child, and the only daughter ,of seven children born to Willo and LeeRoy Whitney. She began her life on a small farm near Prosser, Washington and then her family move to Richland, Washington. She attended public school in Richland and Kennewick. She married Greg Maltos and moved to the Seattle area and raised two sons, Justin and Amosean. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom, loving and nurturing her children into adulthood. She pursued a teaching degree and graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 1997 and began her teaching career in Seattle before moving back to Richland in 1999. Karen taught at Lewis & Clark Elementary in Richland, retiring in 2016.

In 2006 Karen met Gary Davis. They married in Coeur d’ Alene Idaho in 2008. They had a beautiful home built that Karen was very proud of. Karen loved to travel, including travel to Spain with her College associates and then later vacationing in many other parts of the world. She spent many summers camping at her favorite place, Priest Lake, Idaho, enjoying its beauty and peacefulness with her husband and other family members.

Our beloved Karen was many things to many people, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, mentor, friend, and the most incredible Nana. She was a beautiful soul inside and out. Nothing could have prepared us for the emptiness we feel without her. The loss is heavy, but the love she gave us will carry on. We will miss her forever. Karen is survived by her husband Gary Davis, brothers Thomas Whitney (Debbie), Gerald Whitney (Lauri), Edward Whitney, sons Justin Maltos (Ananda) and Amosean Maltos (Brit), four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

  • Karen and I became friends by sharing the same profession of teaching elementary children; we worked together at Lewis and Clark elementary school.
Her wit, honesty, compassion, care always shone through. She was a talented, creative woman – from gardening and keeping everything so beautiful, to cooking so many delicious treats, to making and creating gifts and completing projects.
    I miss her every day!
