Rosamunde “Rose” Shenk

Rosamunde Shenk, lovingly known as Rose or Mundi, passed away on August 24, 2026 in Richland Washington. Rose was born in Lichtenfels Germany and lived a full and meaningful life filled with hard work, lots of travel and adventure, and many good times spent with friends and family.
Rose began her working life at a young age helping on the farm and at her Father’s bakery while growing up in Germany. When she was older she worked for Westinghouse in Germany, performing secretarial duties and working on circuit boards.
Rose moved to the United States in 1958 and had a long and varied working career. When she first moved to the States, she worked as a Nanny for a family in Baltimore Maryland. She then spent time as a phone operator for AT&T, and spent 8 years working as a Toll Booth Operator for the Harbor Tunnel Company in Maryland.
In 1976, Rose moved to Pasco Washington where she spent the next 50 years working, making friends, and loving life. She attended CBC (Columbia Basin Community College) for several quarters before beginning secretarial work at Energy Northwest and various construction companies at Hanford.
Rose was most proud of the 23 years she spent as a postal carrier for the Richland Post Office. She was dedicated to her job, her co-workers, the people who lived on her postal route, and the many friends she met along the way.
Rose will be lovingly remembered for her strength, her feistiness, and her dedication to her friends and family. Though she is no longer with us, Rose will live on in the memories and hearts of all who knew and loved her.
There will be a private Celebration of life for close friends and family at a date to be determined.

  • I will truly miss Rose. I loved our visits when she would share the stories of her life. I visited her a week before she passed and she would say she was ready to go meet Jesus. I will miss my friend, but cherish our visits.
