George William Duffield 79, of West Richland, WA passed peacefully September 14, 2026 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Richland, WA.

George valiantly managed multiple health challenges his entire life. His tremendous, positive acceptance and example to work through each challenge will rest deep in the hearts of his family and many others.

George held dear the conditions surrounding his birth. He entered this world during a severe winter storm on New Year’s Day, January 1, 1947, in the humble home of his Grandma Moore in Belfry, Montana. He is the son of William and Eva Moore Duffield.

Developing his mind and skills was a constant for George, both within the walls of a classroom and everyday experiences. His formal education began in a small school on the Crow Reservation at Pryor, MT. Grades 4 – 12 were completed in Anaconda, MT, with George graduating from Anaconda High School in 1965. He advanced his career in Environmental Engineering at Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology in Butte, MT.

George found his eternal life’s love in 1967 when he met Karen Bleile. After 3 wonderful dating years, they were married on August 15, 1970, in Anaconda. Two beautiful children blessed their marriage. As years passed more joy filled his life as generations grew.

George logged nineteen great years in the copper mining world in MT, fifteen years in the nuclear field in Richland, WA and numerous days working the earth on family ranches in MT. His joy in life ranged from farming experiences, a love of backyard gardening, fishing Georgetown Lake in MT and developing his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. George found great fulfillment in the beauties of the world and enjoyed traveling to see many wonders.

In his early working days, George was having his lunch break while visiting with a seasoned worker. Conversation paused to watch a few others misusing work time. Counsel given from the elderly friend was: “George, always work so you don’t have to back up to the pay window.” George held to that counsel.

George’s earthly time card is complete. His example and love will be a strength always for those he leaves. George can now face the eternal pay window with joy.

George was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eva Duffield, a stillborn brother, and sisters Gwen and Debbie.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen, son William and daughter Stephanie (Andrew) Grimshaw, 5 grandchildren: Billy (Kaitlyn), Ben, Blake and Boden Duffield and Abbie Grimshaw, and great grandson William Henry Duffield. Siblings: Willette Tamcke, Polson, Mt, Jack (Rhonda) Duffield, Anaconda, MT and Jennifer Duffield, Issaquah, WA.
