Linda Davis Brede
Linda Davis-Brede, 81, passed away on September 22, 2026, in Richland, WA. She was born in Seattle, Washington, on July 20, 1945, to James and Bonnie Davis.
Linda prided herself on hard work, earning her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University while working full time as a single mother, leading to a long career in retail with URM Stores, Inc. She lived fully, had an adventurous spirit, and loved traveling the world with her husband and life-long friends. Linda had a deep appreciation for good food, especially meals at Tom Douglas restaurants, and loved hosting gourmet dinner parties with friends. Her marriage to Doug was the center of her life, and she treasured their years together. She loved reading, tracing family genealogy, and was a staunch advocate for women’s rights. She was also an active member of the Unitarian Universalist congregations in both Spokane, Washington, and Rancho Mirage, California.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracie Tipton; stepchildren Michael (Sarah) and Loralee Farris (Ryan); grandchildren Amanda Tipton and Duke Wallace; step-grandchildren Serena Farris, Lily Farris, and James Brede; sister and brother-in-law Laurel and Ron Smithwick; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Doug Brede, who passed in February.
Linda will be cremated, and her family will hold a celebration of life at a later date to share stories and remember her.
Thank you Mrs. Linda for the love you showed to me.
I’m so sorry we’ve all lost Linda! She was always so full of fun, and spunk. I’m very glad I was able to visit with her a year ago at our RHS Class of ‘63 birthday party. May your treasured memories bring you comfort and peace.
Sending love & hugs to all the family. Linda was such a big part of my life … so many memories of time spent together growing up … my heart is sad at her passing but so full of the love we shared as bestest friends.
