Molly Ledgard Norman, 88, of Vancouver, Wash., passed away peacefully on Sept. 13, 2026, surrounded by family.

Molly was born on Sept. 4, 1938, in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, to Tom and Mabel Ledgard. She was the third of four children. In 1948, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in the Salt Lake Valley of Utah.

Molly graduated from Murray High School in 1956 and later earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Utah. She married her fellow Murray High School graduate, Edgar C. “Gar” Norman, on Aug. 17, 1961, in the Salt Lake Temple.

During Gar’s career in the nuclear industry, they raised their family while living in several places across the country, including Tennessee, Idaho, Maryland, and California.

Molly and Gar were blessed with five children: Thomas, Jill, Robert, Betty, and Jeffrey.

In 1979, Gar and Molly settled in Richland, Wash., where they lived until Gar’s passing on Molly’s birthday, Sept. 4, 2008.

During her years in Richland, Molly had the opportunity to teach for several years at Tapteal Elementary School in West Richland.

Molly fell in love with preserving family memories through scrapbooking. She created 10 beautiful scrapbook albums as 40th birthday gifts for each of her children, filling them with memories of their lives and families. She also created many scrapbooks documenting the numerous cruises she enjoyed with Gar and her sister, Betty. Through her scrapbooks, Molly preserved not only photographs but the stories, people, and memories that meant so much to her.

Molly was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a stalwart servant of the Savior. Throughout her life, she served in many callings, including in Relief Society and Young Women, and as a temple worker alongside her husband at the Columbia River Washington Temple in Richland. In 2003, Molly and Gar served an LDS mission together at Camp Zarahemla.

Her faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ was a source of strength throughout her life. Her family is comforted by their knowledge that families can be together forever.

Molly was preceded in death by her husband, Gar; her sisters, Joan and Betty; and her two grandsons, Riley and John.

She is survived by her brother, John Ledgard (Glenda), of Puyallup, Wash.; her children, Tom (Shelly), of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Jill (Kevin) Wistisen, of Cedar Hills, Utah; Rob (Jennifer), of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; Betty (Shannon) Taylor, of Vancouver, Wash.; and Jeff (Melanie), of Mapleton, Utah. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and Gar’s siblings, Tad, Van, John, and Alice Erickson, along with their spouses and families.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 915 Bypass Highway, Richland, Wash.

Molly leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, family, service, and devotion to the Savior. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
