Sally Lundgren (86) of West Richland, Washington, passed away peacefully on September 11th, 2026, with her sons by her side.

Born in Long Beach, California; she was the daughter of Hubert and Dorothy (Jerry) Blackburn.

She is survived by her sons, Eric and Mike (Sharonda), and Grandsons Triston, Jaden, and Evan Lundgren along with numerous cousins and friends.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Dorothy, and her former husband, Roy Lundgren.

Sally, Roy, and Eric moved to Richland from Bellingham, Washington in 1962, where she worked for the National Bank of Commerce before going to work for Washington Public Power Supply #2. She then worked for J.A. Jones and various Hanford contractor companies.

She always had a love of the outdoors whether riding horses with her dad or hiking, camping, biking, swimming along the Columbia River with her family, friends, and Labrador retrievers. Her best memories were the good times she had with the family, hiking and camping and a road trip to Alaska when the AL-CAN highway was still primitive.

Sally was always adventurous with a “glass half full” spirit. In that spirit of adventure, one of her greatest personal achievements was climbing Mount St Helens after the eruption. She was also fortunate to fulfill a lifelong passion of seeing Machu Picchu in Peru and a month-long trip with cousins traveling Europe. Her best memories were adventures with family and friends.

From early school days she felt she was fortunate to have such wonderful loving family and friends who have given so much love and support. Her friends from work have continued to be important to her, long after retirement, along with supportive friendships from long time neighbors was and is cherished.

She liked to reflect and remember the good times of her life, which there were many and always remembered a poem her dad taught her, “Laugh and the whole world will laugh with you, Weep and you will weep alone, for the sad old earth must borrow its mirth, it has enough trouble of its own.”

Sally wanted to acknowledge and thank special best friends, Ron and Ceona Chitwood, the whole staff at AT HOME Staffing, The Nurses and staff at Kadlec Medical Center and Tri-Cities Chaplaincy.
