Celebration of Life
Genive Marie ( Gomez) Cash
Genive Marie (Gomez) Cash passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Pasco, Washington, at the age of 66. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was born on September 23, 1959, in Othello, Washington, to Amelia Gomez, and was the oldest of five children.
Genive met the love of her life, Jon Cash, while they were both working at IBP, and they married in 1985. Together, they built a home in Pasco, raising Marzjon and Lucas and sharing more than 40 years of love, memories, and milestones. Their love and partnership were the foundation of the life they built together.
As a mother, Genive made sure she showed up for her children as they grew up, supporting them through school, sports, celebrations, and all the moments that mattered. She carried that same love into being a grandmother, cheering her grandchildren on and treasuring the time they shared together. Genive’s greatest joy was her family.
Caring for children was a central part of Genive’s life. She ran a daycare in Pasco for more than 20 years before joining the Pasco School District in 2009, where she served as a Nutrition Services Unit Manager for nearly 15 years. Throughout her career, she took pride in making a difference in the lives of others and contributing to her community. Her coworkers remember her as hardworking and dedicated, with a positive attitude, a generous spirit, and a willingness to lend a helping hand. She retired in 2024, looking forward to spending more time with Jon and her grandchildren.
Genive had a generous heart and a way of making people feel valued and cared for. She was someone others could count on, always offering support and bringing comfort and warmth to those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family and friends, and fondly remembered by her coworkers and the many children she cared for over the years.
Genive is survived by her husband, Jon Cash; her daughter, Marzjon Cash; her son, Lucas Cash, and his wife, Katie; her grandchildren, Zion, Trinity, Ezrah, and Noah Hopstad, and Luna, Lola, and Stella Cash; her brother, Pete Gomez, and his wife, Tracey; and her nieces, Emily and Megan Gomez.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Amelia Gomez; her brothers, Joe Gomez and Anthony Gomez; and her sister, Carmelita Gomez.
Family and friends are invited to come share stories and remember Genive at a Celebration of Life on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Einan’s at Sunset, 915 Bypass Highway, Building H, Richland, WA 99352.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Genive’s memory to Grace Collective for Women.
